Wrongly Convicted Nebraskan Has Record Cleaned
Arrests for raping and murdering a Beatrice woman 24 years ago have been wiped clean from the record of a man wrongly convicted of the crimes.
On Monday, Saline County District Court Judge Vicky Johnson granted a request from Joseph White to expunge his arrest and conviction in the murder and rape of Helen Wilson.
DNA evidence last year showed White and five others were wrongly convicted of the crimes.
Five of the six, including White, were pardoned in January after investigators said DNA evidence proved the crimes instead were committed by a man who died in 1992.
The sixth person had his conviction overturned last year. White now lives in Alabama, and his attorney said he has had trouble getting a job because of his record.
