York man makes plea deal in stolen-checks case
A 20-year-old York man has pleaded no contest in a stolen-checks case. Michael Burton made his plea earlier this week and was convicted of unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.
That felony carries a maximum prison term of five years. Two other counts were dropped. Investigators say Burton had stolen some checks in last August from a couple he was staying with.
Bank surveillance video later showed Burton depositing some of the checks into his account and cashing another of the checks. Burton's sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 1.
