Cornhusker Bank has teamed up the People’s City Mission to help bring shoes to all those who need it.

Tuesday was the sixth annual Cornhusker Bank One Day without Shoes event. This is all about raising awareness and collecting shoe donations.

The employees go shoeless all day and some people even went on a two mile walk, barefoot.

During the first five years of this event, they’ve raised over 40 thousand pairs of shoes and still need more.

"When I first got to the mission I didn’t realize just how many people don’t have an adequate pair of shoes. How many kids at the mission go to school with bad shoes and a number of them over the years, I have heard, get made fun of; people without cars walking around with shoes that don’t fit sometimes getting blisters, that happens on a fairly regular basis," Pastor Tom Barber said.

More than 150 businesses are participating and they will take new, used, and even un-wearable shoes.

They are hoping to help thousands of people.

You can always donate to the People’s City Mission, but those other locations will only be excepting shoes until the 15th. Then on Saturday the mission will let people come and pick out their shoes.
