1.56 million dehumidifiers recalled after being linked to at least 23 fires

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Popular dehumidifiers sold all over the U.S. are being recalled following at least 23 fires and 688 overheating incidents.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, these were widely available at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, Sam’s Club, Sears, and Walmart between 2011 and 2014.

They were manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances.  This impacts major brands including Kenmore, GE and Seabreeze.

The CPSC says they’ve already caused $168,000 in property damage.  Owners can learn more about the affected units and getting a refund here.
