11 charged with felonies in Nebraska DMV fraud investigation
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities arrested 11 Nebraskans on Tuesday on suspicion of criminal impersonation and identity theft.
Investigators served arrest warrants in Fairbury and Crete, taking 11 people into custody.
All of them were charged with felonies for purchasing and distributing fraudulent ID documents, officials said.
The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles’ fraud investigations unit worked with law enforcement in the nearly yearlong investigation.
“We are pleased the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office has pursued these identity theft related charges,” DMV Director Rhonda Lahm said in a press release. “This helps to further our ability to stop criminal activity which victimizes Nebraska citizens.”
