Southeast Nebraska temps go from 90s to 50s in one day

What a difference a day makes.
Tuesday had temperatures in the low 90s throughout southeast Nebraska. Wednesday had temperatures running 40 degrees cooler, with highs only in the lower 50s.
Get used to cooler temperatures because it looks like they are here to stay through the weekend and beginning of next week. But don’t fret: Long-range computer models are suggesting a nice warmup coming to Nebraska in the middle/end of next week.
Clear skies around the area Wednesday night will allow temperatures to drop. Expect low temperatures in the be in the middle to upper 20s Thursday morning.
We start Thursday with mainly sunny skies. Clouds should begin to arrive by late afternoon, leading to partly cloudy skies by early evening.
Temperatures will be a few degrees warmer than Wednesday. Highs will be in the mid-50s.
Winds will gust to 40 mph out of the west. This, combined with dry vegetation and relatively dry air, will lead to an increased fire risk, especially in the eastern third of the state.
