14-year-old accused of stealing five vehicles, gun in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 14-year-old boy is facing several felony charges after a series of vehicle thefts across Lincoln.
The first vehicle theft happened at a home near 40th Street and Old Cheney Road on Oct. 28., according to court records.
Over the course of two weeks, four more vehicles were stolen. A handgun was also taken from one of the vehicles.
All of the vehicles were left unlocked with the keys inside, according to police.
On Monday, an officer spotted a 14-year-old boy in one of the stolen vehicles near 66th Street and Deerwood Drive.
During an investigation, officers learned that the boy had stolen the vehicles and stored them at a church near 31st Street and Old Cheney Road.
The stolen gun was later recovered from a storm drain near 75th Street and Sumac Drive.
The boy was taken into custody on suspicion of six counts of felony theft.
