15-year-old student critically wounded in shooting at Omaha high school

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are investigating a shooting Tuesday at Omaha Northwest High School.
One student, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The school went into lockdown at 12:30 p.m., according to Omaha Public Schools.
The suspected shooter was taken into custody about 1 p.m., and the lockdown was lifted about 1:30 p.m.
Police said that the suspect, a 14-year-old boy, is also a student and that the shooting appeared to be an “isolated incident” between the two students.

The reunification area for parents and students is at the football stadium west of the school. Police ask people to be patient, as this is a lengthy process.
Officers will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
We are actively investigating a shooting that occurred at or near Omaha Northwest High School. There is reported to be one victim at this time. The school is currently in lockdown. We will continue to update as we get more details.
