15th Anniversary of Hallam Tornado

May 22nd, 2004 is a day many Nebraskans will never forget.

15 years ago to the day the second largest tornado on record tore through the town of Hallam Nebraska.

According to experts, the tornado was 2.5 miles wide when it hit the town, leveling everything in its path.

The Hallam tornado was the widest on record until it was barely surpassed on May 31st, 2013 by the El Reno, Oklahoma Tornado, which had a width of 2.6 miles, according to NOAA.

Those in the Hallam community have since worked to recover, but the memory of that day will live on, as they continue to move forward.
