18-year-old Ashland woman killed in car crash near Pflug

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office along with Gretna Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the area of Highway 6 near Pflug Road on May 31st at 10:02 p.m. for a personal injury crash.
A red 2014 Ford Fusion driven by 18-year-old Claire Kresak of Ashland was traveling westbound on Highway 6 and attempted a maneuver to pass another westbound vehicle. Kresak encountered an eastbound blue 2007 Hyundai Entourage minivan, operated by 44-year-old Jeffrey A. Johnson of Ashland. This resulted in a head on collision in the eastbound lane of Hwy 6 just east of Pflug.
Kresak was unresponsive at the scene and transported to Nebraska Medicine Trauma Center via medical helicopter in critical condition. Kresak died as a result of her injuries on the evening of June 1st.
Johnson was transported to Nebraska Medicine with critical injuries, he is expected to survive.
The South Metro Crash response team responded to the scene, as Hwy 6 was closed in both directions.
