19-year-old found in submerged car on New Years day
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – According to Lincoln Police Department, around 1:30 am on January 1st a silver Chevy Impala was found upside down and submerged inside Salt Creek, near 27th and Fairfield Street.
Jacob Rodriguez, age 19, was found as the only occupant in the vehicle.
Rodriguez was safely removed from the vehicle with assistance from Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews.
Officers initiated a DUI investigation after finding signs that Rodriguez had been consuming alcohol.
On the way to a local hospital, Rodriguez became argumentative and belligerent with medics and became further combative with officers and hospital staff once he arrived for treatment.
Rodriguez was cited for DUI (1st offense), Refusing a Preliminary Breath Test, Reckless Driving, Driving on a Suspended License, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
