2-Alarm fire near 27th and Highway 2

Lincoln Fire and Rescue battled a 2-alarm fire at the Southwood Village Apartment Complex near 27th and Highway 2 this morning around 8:30 a.m. No injuries were reported and Lincoln Fire said cigarettes caused the fire. Two apartments suffered severe damage. It’s the third fire caused by cigarettes at the Southwood Village Apartment Complex since 2012. Earlier this week, LFR said cigarettes likely caused the four-alarm fire at the Black Sand Apartments near 33rd and Superior Streets.
