2 boys swap toys with the Christmas spirit in Lincoln

Two families are already getting into the Christmas spirit by giving back.
A Plymouth mother drove to Lincoln, to do a toy swap with a local family. Two friendships have been made between two moms and their sons, all because one paid it forward.
A pay it forward Face Book group brought two families together, when a boy with ADHD decided to trade toys with a Lincoln boy who has autism.
“My mom told me and I was like yeah I wanna do that cause I like doing that I like giving away toys,” said Spencer Miller-DeWitte.
The two mothers met through the Lincoln Tree of Hope Facebook page, a group that challenges members to pay it forward. If one needs something, they can ask for it in a post and also offer to give something large or small when able.
Kasey DeWitte and her son, Spencer, give his unwanted toys and clothes to others each year around Christmas.
They found Carla and her son John who share the love of dinosaurs. The two traded toys and instantly began playing with them together.
“So, in the past, it’s like you can like collect them but in the future you can sell these for like money but I usually just play with them,” said John Lewis.
The two moms made a bond just like the boys and one had tears of joy when talking about the experience.
“Everything that has to do with my son just tugs at my heartstrings,” said Carla Lewis. “There are people out there that care and go above and beyond for my son and it just makes me happy and emotional.
DeWitte said it’s important to teach children to give.
“I’ve always tried to educate him that there is always somebody out there that doesn’t have something that you do have you know and if that other person can use it and you’re not. we can donate and move on,” said DeWitte.
The two moms plan on having more play dates soon and to get involved with the group visit The Lincoln Tree of Hope Facebook page.
