2 DUIs in 2 days: Man was on drugs when he hit Lincoln railroad crossing arm, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police said Thursday that the man who crashed into a railroad crossing arm in Lincoln was on drugs.

The crash happened about 11 a.m. Wednesday at West Van Dorn and Southwest 15th streets.

The 52-year-old driver suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to a hospital, police said.

He was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and negligent driving.

Police said that about 2:15 p.m. the day before, the man was pulled over for going 77 mph in a 45-mph zone.

He was ticketed for being under the influence of drugs.
