2019 Lincoln Public Schools BackPack Extra Mile Walk

Early Saturday morning it was the 12th annual Lincoln Public Schools BackPack Extra Mile Walk where this year they raised more than $180,000 to help feed those in need in Lincoln.
“The extra mile walk is really the financial foundation and the emotional and the spiritual foundation of the Lincoln child hunger program effort,” Scott Young the Executive Director of the Lincoln Food Bank said.
The BackPack Extra Mile Walk helps raise money so they can help provide backpacks filled with food for Lincoln Public School students, so they can have enough food to get them through the weekend.
Each month nearly 4,000 students receive food support through the food bank’s child hunger program, and 143 families use the Lincoln Public Schools Emergency Pantry.
Over the last 11 years of doing this event, Lincoln Public Schools has raised more than $1.75 million for the Lincoln Food Bank.
