Pups enjoy spring like weather at Lincoln dog park
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – People took advantage of the spring like weather Sunday. Max E. Roper dog park was filled with parents and pups. But one special pup was at the park to celebrate his upcoming birthday.
Dog father Elan Pittman says his dog Zeno is always excited to get out and about. Tomorrow is his birthday, and he will celebrate with cake and treats while visiting the park for the second day in a row. Zeno’s dad says he loves to hang out with his fur buddies.
“Just his friends, he comes out here often, so he sees his friends a lot, he loves to roll around in the mud, snow, heat or whatever, he just loves it,” Pittman said. “It makes him proactive, they get a lot of energy and exercise, he’s kind of chunky over there so once a day doesn’t hurt them at all, it’s just being very active.”
Pittman also said visiting the park offers socialization skills that every dog needs.
Daniel Laschanzky and his Labrador Coly mix are new to the dog park, but so for his one-and-a-half-year-old pup Ko, is having a blast with the extra space.
“He definitely likes to have an open range to run around in, in my house theres not a lot of room for him to just run all around like he is right now, and I don’t have a fenced in backyard, so I have to keep him on a leash when I’m back there,” Laschanzky said. “I think he enjoys being able to just run everywhere and also being able to just run around with other dogs like he’s doing right now. ”
If you decide to visit the dog park, make sure your dog is licensed, vaccinated against rabies and has a color or city license tag.
