Lincoln, Neb. (KLKN) – It’s almost the weekend, so it’s time to start making plans for how to spend the two days off.  Whether you’re looking for an all-ages event or something 21+, there’s plenty of weekend activities across the state.

 

OMAHA:

Late Night at the Zoo – Thursday, 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Enjoy an interesting cocktail hour at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The Late Nights at the Zoo summer event series will include an evening full of drinks, local food trucks and wildlife. Tickets are available online and at the door.

Friday Night Concert Series – Friday, 7 p.m.

Local musicians entertain families every Friday night from June through August. Depending on the night, you’ll hear rock, jazz, pop, country and more. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a delightful evening with the whole family. Come early for dinner on the patio at Pasta Amore or Jaipur and enjoy a nightcap after the concert at Public House or Corkscrew Wine & Cheese.

Infusion: Bloody Mary Mix Off – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Welcome back to Omaha’s original Bloody Mary Mix Off. The Infusion features brunch and Bloody Marys from some of Omaha’s best bars and restaurants. Try each bar’s personalized Bloody Mary and tell us your favorite. Attendees will vote for the best Bloody and the best garnish. Must be 21+ to attend.

Heartland Pride Festival – Saturday, 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Bring your family and friends to this annual pride festival following the Pride Parade in Omaha’s Old Market Entertainment District.

LINCOLN:

Cornhusker State Games – Starts Friday, 4:30 p.m.

The Cornhusker State Games is a statewide amateur sports festival for all Nebraskans. The purpose of the Games is to provide top-quality amateur competition in a wide range of activities.  See the city while watching some of the state’s best compete.

Roller Sports Championship – Figure Skating on Thursday and Friday, Speed Skating on Sunday

The 2022 USARS National Championship is a competition where five disciplines come together for the biggest roller sports event in the United States. Lincoln will be the host to more than 4,000 athletes, coaches and officials who will participate throughout a month of competition at the Speedway Sports Complex.

Brews at the Zoo – Saturday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Adults 21 and over can go enjoy some delicious craft beers and live music at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. This year’s event features craft beers from Zipline Brewing, Empyrean Ales, White Elm Brewing, Lucky Bucket Brewing and more! Plus, food will be available for purchase during the event.

TADAstock 3 – Saturday, 7 p.m.

The summer concert tradition continues as TADA Productions, Inc. and The Mill invite you to get ready for a sensational outdoor musical celebration! TADAstock 3 allows us to collaborate and put together an all-new evening for you to enjoy delicious food and first-rate wine from The Mill and music performed by an array of talented singers from the TADA Theatre.

NORTH PLATTE / SUTHERLAND / BRADY:

BBQ Fundraiser – Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Join Lucky Chucks in fundraising for the L2 for Kids! Pulled pork meals, brisket, and baby back rib meals will be available as well as bulk meat packages. A percentage of the funds raised will go to L2 for Kids, a non-profit group that provides funds for children to purchase new school clothes.

Nebraska Firefighter’s Jamboree – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The day will begin with a Motorcycle/Hot Rod Token Run in the morning by Guardians of the Children Flatrock starting at the Sutherland Fire Station. Riders/Drivers will meet back in Sutherland at the Longhorn Bar for the final stop.  Food trucks and firefighter games in the street with other rural departments will also be at the event. A concert featuring Judd Hoos and Rascal Martinez will cap off the night.

Live Music and the Old Depot – Saturday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Hear from Heather Wellman, a country music artist that also covers iconic songs from the 90s. The Old Depot will also have wine, pizzas and more for event-goers.

NORFOLK:

Crazy Days Sidewalk Sale – Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m., Sunday, noon

It’s time for Sunset Plaza’s summer Crazy Days Sidewalk Sale! The hallways will feature deals from several stores. 

 

ASHLAND:

Stir-up Days – Friday, Saturday & Sunday, all-day

Stir-Up Days is Ashland, Nebraska’s single largest annual community event. This year’s theme is Ghostbusters. Highlights from previous celebrations include the Stir-Up Coronation on Friday night, the Grand Parade on Saturday morning, the Balloon Glow Event, plus lots of fun and activities for all ages including Helicopter Rides, Bungee Trampoline, Carnival Games, Beer & Wine Garden and Live Music, and closing with the Ashland car show on Sunday.

Pancake Feed – Sunday, 7 a.m. to noon

Eat some pancakes and support Ashland Rotary this Sunday. All free-will donations go toward scholarship funds and local projects, like helping with the disc golf course..  They will serve pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.

GRAND ISLAND:

Platte River Charity Shoot – Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Join Goodwill of Greater Nebraska in a healthy competition with all proceeds going to help transform the lives of those affected by a developmental and intellectual disability, mental illness, substance use disorder or poverty.

KEARNEY:

Kearney Cruise Nite – Thursday & Friday, 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday & Sunday, all-day

Every year in July, the CNAC (Central Nebraska Auto Club) encourages anyone who wants to relive the memories of the “Good Ole Days” along with the love of the classic cars to come and enjoy the fun. Events are held on the third weekend in July.  Cruise Nite begins Tuesday evening with the Show & Shine event.

Beer Garden Yoga – Saturday, 1 p.m.

Platte Valley Taphouse Beer Garden will be hosting a relaxing yoga event on Saturday. A $20 fee gets you 2 brews and a 60-minute flow yoga class. Please bring a mat and (or) towel.  Those under 21 are welcome, there will be Juice and Pop available.

HASTINGS:

Adams County Fair – Thursday to Sunday, all-day

Adams County is showing off some of its best features this weekend at the Adams County Fairfest. Carnivals, crafts and concerts will keep the whole family busy all weekend long. 4-H is showing livestock each day, like horses, goats, cows and more.

NEBRASKA CITY:

Summer Music Series – Saturday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Don’t let the summer slip by without taking in the Summer Music Series at Arbor Day Farm.  Join us for an entertaining evening of free music and yard games just outside the Apple House Market!  Bring a blanket and lawn chair or grab a picnic table, and then sit back and relax.  Beer, Arbor Day Farm wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase as well as a limited variety of Porter’s barbecue items.

FAIRBURY / WESTERN:

Jefferson County Fair – Thursday to Sunday, all-day

The fair will feature events including a rodeo, a dog show, a hypnotist, dancing, putt-putt golf and more. Spend one afternoon or all weekend enjoying everything this festival has to offer.

Western Picnic – Friday to Sunday, all-day

Western, Nebraska (the village, not the general direction) is celebrating 150 years and they want you to join them.  There will be outdoor movies, food, dancing, competitions and so much more.  The festival ends Sunday afternoon with cake and ice cream to celebrate the village’s 150th birthday.

O’NIELL:

O’Niell Summerfest Celebration – All weekend

Saturday enjoy the car show, vendor fair, youth tractor pull, cake walk and more in Ford Park.  

Friday and Saturday nights, enjoy Award Winning Mid-States Rodeo Action.  Following the rodeo, walk across ighway 281 to the O’Neill Community Center to enjoy a concert featuring The Sunset Sinners opening for Ian Munsick.
