LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Around 23 Union Pacific train cars derailed Tuesday in southeast Nebraska, officials say.

Union Pacific said the derailment happened around 4 p.m. near Union, just west of the Nebraska-Iowa border.

The derailment caused one train car to spill polyisobutylene, a synthetic rubber, into Wolf Creek.

A hazmat team is at the scene coordinating “remediation and cleanup efforts,” according to Union Pacific.

No one was injured, and the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
