LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Thursday in a shooting inside a gas station near downtown Lincoln, police say.

Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at Casey’s near 13th and E streets, Lt. Dustin Romshek said.

When officers arrived, they found two victims who had been shot.  A man had life-threatening injuries and an innocent bystander had non-life-threatening injuries.

Both were taken to a hospital, and the man who suffered life-threatening injuries died, according to police.

LPD said the preliminary investigation and witnesses indicated there was a disturbance between the shooter and the victim in the parking lot before the shooting.

The shooter, 23-year-old Emanuel Greenwalt-Claypool, stayed on scene and surrendered his firearm.  He is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Greenwalt-Claypool has been charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony and second-degree assault.

The Casey’s will be closed for an extended period due to the investigation, according to LPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
