25 traffic tickets issued amid southeast Lincoln road construction project

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department has issued numerous traffic tickets in a southeast Lincoln construction zone.

From Spruce Street to Van Dorn Street, 56th Street has been undergoing a pavement enhancement project, with construction expected to continue through the fall.

Lanes have been closed along 56th Street, and left turns are prohibited.

LPD said it has been receiving numerous complaints about drivers violating these restrictions and has written 25 citations so far.

If you are trying to turn left where lanes are restricted, police said you are likely causing dangerous interruptions in the flow of traffic.

LPD said to plan ahead and use an alternate route if you need to turn left in this area.

You can learn more about the project at the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department’s website.
