3.6 magnitude earthquake detected near Nebraska-Kansas border

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraskans near the southern border of the state felt another early morning earthquake Tuesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey shows that an earthquake rated at 3.6 magnitude struck just south of the Nebraska-Kansas border in Jewell County. The earthquake occurred just after 7 a.m.

The quake’s shockwaves could be felt well into Nebraska. Despite that, no calls were made to the nearby Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Office regarding the earthquake.

So far, no injuries or damages have been reported. This is the second earthquake to hit the area this month.

On July 17, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck in a nearby location just before 8 a.m. No damage or injuries were reported in that quake.
