3 snow leopards at Lincoln Children’s Zoo die from COVID-19 complications

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three snow leopards at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo passed away due to complications from COVID-19, according to their Facebook post.
“Our leopards, Ranney, Everest, and Makalu, were beloved by our entire community inside and outside of the zoo. This loss is truly heartbreaking, and we are all grieving together,” the post said.
The snow leopards tested positive in early October.
Sumatran tigers, Axl and Kumar, have made a full recovery from COVID-19, according to the Zoo.
Lincoln Children’s Zoo remains open to the public.
They say they will continue following the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians and CDC guidelines to ensure the safety of their animals, staff, and community.
