UPDATE: Lincoln man one of 32 people arrested for cock fighting ring in Cass County

UPDATE: The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says a Lincoln man was arrested in connection to a cock fighting ring near Louisville. 

CCSO says Francisco Barbosa-Almazan, 32, of Lincoln, was one of 32 people arrested Saturday. 

Cock fighting is a felony offense in Nebraska, and carries penalties up to five years in prison. 

CCSO told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that the agency is no longer actively looking for suspects, but the investigation into the cock fighting ring is ongoing. 

Of the 32 people arrested, several were from Omaha and surrounding towns, and one was from Washington State.

Cass County Deputies, along with Nebraska State Patrol responded to an anonymous tip regarding a cock fighting ring located at 11317 Highway 50, Louisville Nebraska on Saturday, November 12:33 p.m.. 
 
On the morning of November 24th the Nebraska Humane Society Advised that they received an anonymous tip from a patron that cock fighting was going to be taking place at this location on Saturday, November 24th.

Upon arrival of the residence Officers could spot numerous cars parked on the property.

Officers spoke with both property owners who advised that they had no clue why there were so many people on their property.

Officers gained consent from both parties to search their land, and investigate further. 
 
Upon approaching the east side of the property numerous people flooded out of a barn and took off into the trees and fields to the north of the property.

Officers detained as many as they could but many got away in the fields to the north and east of the property.

Deputies requested and received assistance from Plattsmouth Police Department to help transport and search for more parties involved.

Deputies also received assistance from Cass County Emergency Management and Nebraska Humane Society. 
 
Upon receiving a search warrant for the property Cass County Deputies, Cass County Emergency Management and the Nebraska Humane Society seized 186 live roosters, 11 dead roosters, and had to euthanize 1 rooster on scene.

Inside of the barn many items were seized in relation to cock fighting. Many blades, syringes, and string were found on the inside of the barn, as well as a fighting pen for those involved. Upon the people arrested cash, and gambling sheets were found.

Many of the roosters found inside of the barn were in small boxes, or crates. Many with fresh injuries sustained while fighting. 
 
In total, 32 people were arrested and transported to the Cass County jail for suspicion of participating, viewing, or promoting cockfighting. 

Two juveniles were also detained and released to their parents.
