Warm layer of air locks in clouds for the weekend
Low clouds will continue to hang around over southeast Nebraska through at least the first half of the weekend. The reason for the cloud cover? A temperature inversion.
A warm layer of air between 2,000 feet and 3,500 feet above the ground is locking moisture in the atmosphere from the surface to approximately 2,500 feet. Until we break the inversion clouds will remain in place.
Computer models suggest this could happen by late Sunday afternoon, however it can be difficult to break it up. I suspect we won’t see much sunshine until Monday.
SATURDAY: Overcast skies and cool. High temperatures will be in the low 30°s.
SUNDAY: Overcast skies. Similar temperatures to Saturday. Highs around 30°
