4th Husker player cited for marijuana this off-season

For the fourth time in two months, a Nebraska football player has received a ticket related to marijuana.

Freshman defensive back and three–star recruit Myles Farmer was cited by University Police Monday night. UNL Police said Farmer had a small amount of marijuana in his dorm.

He’s the fourth player to be cited for a marijuana–related offense in the last two months.

Two highly–touted recruits and a running back already facing legal trouble are among those players, including 2019 recruit Wan’dale Robinson and senior defensive back Jeramiah Stovall.

Robinson’s offense came less than a week after running back Maurice Washington was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia. UNL Police say he was found with a marijuana pipe in the dorms.

Washington is also facing felony child porn possession and misdemeanor revenge porn charges in California.

Authorities say he sent a video of an alleged sexual assault of his ex–girlfriend to her while the two were dating there.

Coach Scott Frost talked about the case at big ten media days in Chicago last week.

“We’re gonna wait and see how it all turns out with Maurice,” Frost said. “He’s been doing a pretty good job in the weight room and with the team, but we won’t make any decisions on status or anything  until we know that his legal problems are over and i don’t wanna guess on which way we’ll land, depending on what happens.”

A hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Washington’s case in California.

As for the marijuana citations, NCAA rules say, though, marijuana has been removed from the class of a sinister performance enhancing drug, players caught with possession should still receive a half season penalty.

The athletic department said in a statement, they’re aware of Myles Farmer’s citation and are “addressing it.”
