50°+ temperatures arrive in Lincoln starting Tuesday
Monday marked the beginning of a warm stretch that will last for several days. While temperatures rose into the lower-40s in Lincoln, the presence of southerly flow for a longer period of time helped locations closer to the Tri-Cities make it into the 50s on Monday!
It was also a sunny day! We expect those clear skies to remain overnight and into Tuesday morning. Low temperatures should be around 20° in the capital city.
While we should wake up to mostly clear skies on Tuesday morning, high clouds arrive for the afternoon as a weak upper-level disturbance arrives. We’ll stay dry on Tuesday, and temperatures become even warmer. Highs on Tuesday should reach the middle-50s in Lincoln – almost 20° above average!
The warm stretch of weather should persist through Thursday, where high temperatures may exceed 50° each of those days. A new disturbance approaches on Friday, and that should be successful in dropping temperatures to close out the week.
There is a small chance that Friday’s disturbance could bring some isolated rain/snow showers to eastern Nebraska. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- It is possible that the system may miss us to our north and east. Thus, the best precipitation chance is the east. Chances drop off to the west of Lincoln.
- The precipitation may have to overcome dry air, reducing any precipitation totals.
In light of the above, rain chances look small on Friday as of right now. While precipitation on Friday is a possibility at this point, it is by no means a guarantee.
