5,000 new UNL students do tunnel walk before class photo

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The freshman class at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Friday got a chance to put themselves in the shoes of Husker football players.

Five thousand new students had their own tunnel walk, rushing onto the field of Memorial Stadium to form a giant “N” for a class photo.

“It was really nice,” freshman Liang Endacott said. “I felt like one of the football players.”

Chancellor Rodney Bennett welcomed the students onto the field, calling it a “surreal” experience for those who grew up wanting to be a Husker.

“I mean, there’s no way you could be in that space and not get goosebumps,” he said.

After the tunnel walk, Bennett hosted a barbecue outside the student union.

Then the students took in the sights and sounds of the marching band.
