LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A central Nebraska man pleaded no contest Tuesday to three sex crimes.

James Wert of Aurora was found guilty in Hall County of two counts of child enticement with an electronic communication device and one count of an attempt of the same crime.

The 54-year-old was originally facing 17 felonies, but the other charges were dismissed under a plea deal.

In July, Wert sent a series of Facebook messages to an undercover investigator who he thought was a 13-year-old girl, according to court documents.

The messages included graphic photos and videos, an arrest affidavit says.

Wert set up a time and place to meet with the teenager for sex, police said.

But when he arrived, officers were waiting for him and took him into custody.

Wert is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 4.
