UPDATE: 6 year old injured by firework in Lincoln

A 6-year-old has had three fingers amputated after a firework exploded in her hand.
Lincoln Police initially told Channel 8 a toddler was injured in the incident. They’re now reporting that toddler is actually a 6-year-old visiting from Minnesota.
They say she was holding a Roman Candle firework called the "Atomic Bomb" when it exploded in her hand.
That firework is designed to be placed on the ground before lighting. It had a warning about adult supervision on the label.
Authorities are calling the child’s injury significant.
Her 30-year-old mother, who was there when it happened, was cited with felony child abuse.
New this morning – a 6 year old is in the hospital after a firework went off in her hand.
Her injuries, according to police, are significant the incident happened in a neighborhood near 21st and Breckenridge last night at around 9 p.m.
She was transported to the hospital with a significant hand injury, but no life–threatening injuries.
At least one parent has been cited with child neglect.
Lincoln Police say they are still investigating the accident.
