6-year-old injured when ejected from vehicle in northeast Nebraska crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 6-year-old was seriously injured Monday in a crash in rural northeast Nebraska.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said the two-vehicle crash happened around 3:50 p.m. northeast of Norfolk.

A southbound SUV failed to yield and hit an eastbound Jeep, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both vehicles left the road, and a 6-year-old in the Jeep was ejected into the ditch.  The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The two drivers were also taken to local hospitals with unknown injuries.

Investigators think an improperly sized booster seat in the Jeep “didn’t function properly” during the crash.
