$600,000 in unused COVID relief money reallocated to Lincoln groups
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – About $600,000 that has gone unused from the American Rescue Plan Act is being put back int0 the community.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced Thursday that the money is going toward four initiatives.
The commercial driver’s license program at the American Job Center received $250,000.
The second recipient is Echo Collective, a program that works with refugee and immigrant women. It received $150,000.
The Lincoln Littles child care internship program will receive $100,000.
Lastly, $100,000 is also going to the CEDARS child care assistance program.
The city has spent $32 million in ARPA funding since 2021.
This new plan ensures that the city will use all of the money before the deadline at the end of the year.
