65-Year-old woman robbed while pumping gas in Northeast Lincoln

Lincoln Police say a 65-year-old woman was pumping gas Saturday night when she was approached by a woman who tried to steal her purse.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday night at Roc’s Stop and Shop near 56th and Holdrege.

The 65-year-old woman was pumping gas when a black woman approached her and asked if she could make change for a bill.

Police say the victim reached for her purse and that’s when the suspect tried to grab it.

Police say the two women continued to struggle for the purse causing the victim to fall onto the pavement.

The suspect fled the scene in a maroon sedan, but did not get the victim’s purse. 

Police say the victim sustained minor injuries to her elbow, but is expected to be ok.
