78-year-old woman killed in crash on rural road south of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A woman died after a crash late Monday night in rural Lancaster County.
The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. on West Panama Road near Southwest 29th Street, about 12 miles south of Lincoln.
An SUV went into the ditch off Panama Road and hit part of the bridge over the Spring Branch of Salt Creek, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, 78-year-old Sharon Gana of Martell, was trapped inside.
Hallam Fire & Rescue and Cortland Rural Fire & Rescue responded and got the woman out of the SUV.
She was flown by helicopter to Bryan West Medical Center, where the sheriff’s office said she died early Tuesday morning.
No one else was in the vehicle, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
