8-year-old bicyclist hit by vehicle near west Lincoln school

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A driver was ticketed Thursday morning after hitting an 8-year-old bicyclist in west Lincoln, police say.

Around 7:20 a.m., the driver – a 42-year-old woman – struck the bicyclist, who was crossing the road at South Street and Coddington Avenue.

Police said the child was taken to a hospital but was not injured.

The woman was cited on suspicion of failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Police reminded drivers to remain vigilant behind the wheel, especially in school zones and crosswalks.
