84-year-old woman found guilty in deadly crash near Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An 84-year-old woman was convicted Wednesday in a deadly crash outside of Lincoln.

The woman, who turns 85 on Thursday, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide.

On May 29, authorities said she pulled out of a driveway near Southwest 84th and West A streets, hitting a pickup truck.

The woman’s Buick went into a ditch, and the pickup rolled into the ditch on the other side, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the pickup, 49-year-old James Springer of Lincoln, died at the scene.

The woman suffered critical injuries.

She will be sentenced on March 31.
