LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department has launched an investigation after $90,000 worth of bronze items were stolen from a former Nebraska governor’s gravesite at the Wyuka Cemetery.

Just after 9:45 a.m. On Thursday, the cemetery’s president reported that someone had stolen three large bronze plaques and a bronze bust from the gravesite of Albinus Nance.

The plaques included an Abraham Lincoln plaque, a Pledge of Allegiance plaque and one with a script written on it.

Police are also investigating reported vandalism at the cemetery the day before.

Just after 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the cemetery’s president reported that 29 bronze flower vases had been pried from a columbarium.

According to police, the total loss is estimated at $8,700.
