90’s coming to an end; Pattern change begins

It was a warm Tuesday throughout southeast Nebraska.  Temperatures topped out in the lower and middle 90°s, for what could be the last time of 2021.

Lincoln made it to 95°, making this the warmest September in 68 years and the 3rd warmest since 1887 for the date.

A roughly 10° drop in temperatures is expected for Wednesday as clouds will begin to take residence over southeast Nebraska.  Along with clouds, showers and thunderstorms may develop by mid-morning and continue through mid-afternoon.  By late afternoon, showers and thunderstorms should move north of I-80 and several dry hours should prevail in places like Lincoln and Beatrice.

Another round of rain is expected to develop over central Nebraska Wednesday night.  The rain should move east/southeast through the overnight.  Plan on rain for the Thursday morning commute.  There remains some question as to how widespread rain will be through the day Thursday, but I am currently carrying a chance of rain through most of the day.
