$97K in damage to construction site after front end loader left in gear

A construction site in northeast Lincoln was severely damaged Friday morning after someone got in and moved several pieces of heavy equipment around.

According to Lincoln Police Capt. Ryan Dale officers were called to a construction site near 84th and Adams Street early Friday morning after a witness drove by and saw several pieces of equipment moving with no operators.

Police arrived to find a front end loaded in gear with no drive in it and that’s when the officer jumped into action.

Capt. Dale says the officer got into the front end loader and was able to put it in park before it caused more damage to the construction site.

When the construction owner arrived he found several pieces of equipment had been moved around and damaged.

Police say whoever put the equipment in gear caused over $97,000 in damage to the construction site.
