Lincoln Police searching for driver that caused $30k in damages to traffic signal box

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are searching for a driver who caused $30,000 in damage to a traffic signal box at 70th Street and Highway 2.

On Sunday around 11:50 p.m., officers were sent to the intersection on a report of a hit-and-run, Lincoln Police say.

A vehicle had been traveling west on Highway 2 and attempted to turn southbound on 70th Street when it left the road and hit the traffic signal box.

Lincoln Police say the vehicle then fled the scene.  The vehicle is described as a smaller silver or grey Nissan or Honda, according to Lincoln Police.

Lincoln Police estimate that the traffic signal box had around $30,000 worth of damage.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000.
