Nebraska’s Supreme Court has a new face.

Newly appointed justice, Judge Stephanie Stacy took an oath Friday afternoon at the State Capitol.

Stacy’s replacing Justice Kenneth Stephan, who retired.

She’s been a judge since 2011, a former partner at a Lincoln law firm, and taught at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Friday afternoon, she was sworn in, in front of friends, family, and even some local high school students, who she addressed after taking an oath of office.

Stacy says she looks forward to educating others about the state government processes. "Your presence here today reflects the sort of watchfulness and involvement in your government that strengthens our system. I look forward to coming out to your classes in a few weeks and talking to you about our constitution and whatever else you might want to know about how the judicial branch of your government functions."

Stacy’s sons and husband got to be a part of the ceremony, as well, helping the new judge with her enrobing.
