H&M store opens in Lincoln

A lot of excitement about a brand new store that just opened here in Lincoln.

H&M just opened its doors at Gateway Mall, where hundreds camped overnight in excitement to be among the first to shop here.

Some even got here at midnight, marking 12 hours of waiting in line for this worldwide retail chain that's gathered a large, diverse following.

"I feel like I like it because it has so many different styles and it covers everybody. It's not just one style," said the lucky shopper who was first in line.

And with many in the crowd saying they like the affordable price tags, the store opens itself up to back to school shoppers.

Samantha, who couldn't contain her excitement about being at the opening, says she's looking forward to adding to her already cool wardrobe.

"I feel so excited," she screamed.

One often forgotten area of fashion is the men's section… but that's included in the new store as well.

Nathan says he usually has to travel all the way to Omaha for the closest H&M store, but now, the new location makes shopping a lot easier.

Nathan says, "I'm really excited. It's just like when Forever 21 brought out their men's line. so, I usually shop at H&M, but in Omaha. So it's really great to just have one in Lincoln."

Today, the first 200 customers received free gifts like umbrellas, tote bags, t–shirts, and even gift cards for the store, in addition to the high–energy dance moves and music provided by the H&M employees.

Even some of our own Channel 8 news team was spotted in the crowds waiting for a chance to shop.
