The inspiring story of Gigi Carrera

In 2014 we first met Gianna Carrera better known as Gigi. The vivacious little girl boldly announced to her school over the intercom that she was battling a rare form of brain cancer.
Despite all of the obstacles in her path, Gigi continued to have a positive attitude.
When we last saw Gigi in the hospital she was still smiling and telling jokes, but after undergoing months of treatments the Carrera family learned that Gigi had an inoperable tumor. They made the difficult decision to end treatment and to take Gigi home.
“She’s done. She’s done. She’s not…I’ve really been trying to have her guide us on this because it’s such a hard decision to make as a parent, and she’s fine. She’s not sad. She’s ready,” says her mother Leah Carrera.
Gigi was ready. This week she went home one last time. Thursday without fear and fighting until the very end Gigi passed away.
Many words can be used to describe Gigi Carrera. She was funny, spirited, brave, a warrior, and leader. She was an inspiration to everyone around her. Her story has touched the lives of so many and her memory will live on always.
Thousands of people have sent their love, prayers, and support to the Carrera family during this difficult time.
