Lori Thomas, mother of two, has worked full time for several years but has recently accepted a part-time job.

She no longer needs full–time daycare for her kids, but still needs childcare at different hours each day.

“There are plenty of daycare options in Lincoln, but they don’t fit nicely in to my schedule,” Thomas said.

Luckily for Thomas, there’s a new daycare center called Kids Park in Lincoln that will stay open until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 6 p.m. on Sundays. It’s located near 14th Street and Old Cheney Road.

“We want to be the go to for parents in Lincoln for when they want to get out or when they need to accomplish something they can take their kids to,” co-owner Katie Krivolavek said. “And we want to be a space for parents to come, drop off their kids to be safe and have fun.”

Sisters–in–law Katie and Kay Krivolavek recently started up the Lincoln franchise, opening its doors last Thursday. There’s 16 other locations across the country. This is the first in Nebraska.

It’s a pay-as-you-go type deal. No reservations are necessary. Kids can stay a half hour or all day, depending on parent needs. Hourly rates vary based on the number of children dropped off by the same parent. There’s a one-time registration fee, which is good for any center in the nation.

Kids Park takes care of children 18 months old to 12 years old.

Activities include arts and crafts, exercise routines, movie watching, video game playing and more. There’s changing areas, spaces for naps and an outside play area.

“I came home, I said, ‘Oh I missed you so much,'” Thomas said, referring to a night last week after picking up her kids. “And my oldest, Vincent, said, ‘Mom, I’m sorry to tell you this, I really didn’t miss you, I was having fun!'”

Although the center is open for business, the official grand opening is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
