Donations are pouring in after a spring break accident leaves a Nebraska college student with severe injuries.
While on spring break to Panama City Beach, 20-year-old Kade Folchert, suffered a broken neck. He’s currently a quadriplegic.
Folchert’s UNK Pike Fraternity brother, Brady Tolle, describes Folchert as, “A dependable man and very well respected. That’s why it is very difficult for our (Pike) guys right now.”
Officials say on March 23rd, Folchert was walking with friends on the beach and got separated.
Later someone spotted him lying on a sand dune and called police.
Court records show Folchert was taken into custody, that’s when he told police he couldn’t move his legs. The next day he was hospitalized with a broken neck. Folchert has no memory of that day and how he ended up in the bad condition.
Tolle said, “He’s in a difficult time, we’re here in a difficult time to, we asked for the support of the benefit going forward.”
There are a lot of unknowns about Folchert’s current medical condition but that’s not stopping generous people.
Over $18,000 dollars has already been donated to the Kade Folchert Benefit (http://lovekade.myevent.com/3/donate.htm) to help with medical expenses.
One donation alone was over $5,000 dollars.
His fraternity is also hosting a golf outing on April 25th, where all the proceeds will go to Folchert.
Kade was transported to a spinal center in Denver Thursday, where he has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him.
His attorney, Larry Perry, is working to get any possible surveillance video to find out how Folchert ended up with the broken neck.
