Lincoln rent now averages more than $1,150 as record prices bust bank accounts
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Americans are getting hit with record high rent prices as many also struggle to afford even the bare essentials.
The national median rent has now hit a record 17 months in a row, soaring to $1,879 last month.
That’s up more than 12% from a year ago.
Here in Nebraska, most areas are seeing much lower prices.
RentCafe places the average price in Lincoln at $1,157.
The site says that number comes directly from property managers across our city.
It also shows that we have the fourth-highest rent in the state.
Lincoln ranks just behind Gretna, Papillion and Bellevue. which pays the most at $1,283.
Right now the priciest areas in Lincoln are Capitol View and downtown, which both average $1,674.
