Siblings remember missing 14-year-old McCook girl

14-year-old Kailee Clapp of McCook was reported missing by her family Friday morning.  Later that night, police found what they believe to be her body near Bartley, about 20 miles east of her hometown.

Now, her sister, Karen, is speaking out about the loveable girl she was.  She says, “Her laugh and her warm hugs were the most wonderful memory I have. “

Karen and her brother, Nick, agree their beautiful and bubbly baby sister was taken too soon.  The body was found dead in a field last weekend, the same weekend Karen turned 18.  Karen says, “She loved to be around her friends and family.  When she was at home, though, she liked to dress up our dog and take pictures.”

The youngest of four children, Kailee was a freshman at McCook High School and aspired to be a photographer.  Her siblings say she was always singing, dancing and having a good time.

Criminal charges are still pending, but a person of interest has been named in Kailee's death.  Bail has been set for the 18–year–old male at $1,000,000,  pending his arraignment.  He will be in Red Willow County Court Thursday morning at 11:30.

Until the young man se's the courtroom, though, Kailee's family says they're just trying to keep her playful and positive memories alive.  Karen says, “Kailee will be remembered for being a superstar.  She was the bomb to us and nothing short of it.”

An autopsy of what is believed to be Kailee Clapp's body is being performed in Omaha, as of now, there is no indication as to what the cause of death was.
