Porn Star Sparks Debate at UNL

Almost 800 people packed the UNL Student Union Tuesday night to hear porn star Ron Jeremy debate Susan Cole, an activist against pornography.
Ron Jeremy, who's appeared in more than 2,000 adult films, debated Susan Cole. Cole is an author, playwright, and an activist and is against the porn industry and has even written books about it.
One of her main arguments is that porn depicts women as garbage and second rate citizens, which she believes can lead to sexual violence.
Cole says, “in his so-called just-sex-happy-go-lucky entertaining material you can see elements of the absolute contempt and subordinate and hatred that is so obvious in the porn industry in 2010.”
Jeremy replied saying there are many studies that dispute her thoughts. “All prove that watching adult material did not lead to sexual deviant behavior. They found no correlation between watching porn or committing a sex crime if that was the case I wouldn't have done this for 32 years.”
Many of the students say they were there to catch a glimpse of Jeremy, others say they were there to hear the two sides.
