Rezoning Approved For Lancaster Manor

In a unanimous vote, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission voted in favor of zoning changes for Lancaster Manor.
Wednesday, the Planning Commission voted 9-0 to rezone the property from Public Use to Residential R-4.
Last week the county voted to sell Lancaster Manor for 8 million dollars. The board voted 4–0 to sell the nursing home to Hunter Management effective January 1st.
But Tuesday Commissioner Larry Hudkins had another agenda. Absent from last week’s meeting commissioner Larry Hudkins filed a motion to reconsider the decision to sell the manor.
No one from the board gave the motion a second and it was denied forcing Hudkins to testify during the public comment and only for the allotted 5 minutes.
On Wednesday the planning commission discussed rezoning the property which is necessary since it will be run under private ownership. But Hudkins says there’s some big problems with this saying it was never mentioned in the public hearing.
“I’m not trying to delay the sale I’m trying to make sure the residents are treated fairly and were not giving away a valuable asset of Lancaster county at a subsidized price,” Hudkins said.
