UNL Assistant Professor Arrested

A former University of Nebraska-Lincoln assistant professor has been arrested, accused of lying about his academic credentials. Bradley West faces charges of second-degree forgery and theft by deception greater than $1,500.
University spokeswoman Kelly Bartling said Thursday that the 33-year-old West was an assistant professor of management. UNL police say West was hired in 2005 on the condition he would complete his Ph.D by 2007. West allegedly presented a false record showing he earned the Ph.D., and as a result he obtained salary increases of more than $5,000.
West paid $600 in bail and was released from Lancaster County Jail on Tuesday. He couldn't be reached to comment, and he did not have an attorney listed on his jail record. ___
