Lincoln City Libraries, LPS renew program letting students check out books

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln City Libraries and Lincoln Public Schools are renewing a program that gives students better access to books.

On Thursday, officials said the OneCard program – formerly known as ConnectEd – gives students access to library and LPS materials via their student IDs.

The program has been offered since 2016.

In February, the Lincoln City Council voted to renew the agreement for five years.

Officials said OneCard accounts are limited to five items for checkout but will not accrue late fees.

“We know that children who read are better prepared for success in the future, so we’re committed to making it as easy as possible for Lincoln students to check out materials from our libraries,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said in a press release.

More information on the program can be found on the library website.
